Morris Announces Launch of First Multilingual Photo-Sharing Tool, Spotted, On Danish Newspaper Web site Stiften.dk

AARHUS, DENMARK -- Aarhus Stiftstidende, a local Danish media company, has launched the first multilingual version of Morris DigitalWorks' online photo-sharing tool, Spotted. The announcement was made today by Michael Romaner, president of Morris DigitalWorks.

Spotted is a community-based, multimedia-marketing tool that allows users to upload, edit and manipulate their own photos onto a Web site. Morris DigitalWorks sells the tool to newspapers as both a licensed application and a hosted solution. With the Denmark launch, the tool can be read in either English or Danish with one click of a mouse and can be found online at http://spotted.stiften.dk.

"The Internet world transcends languages and national boundaries," said William S. Morris IV, president of MDW's parent company, Morris Communications.  "People everywhere like to take and share and look at pictures, and Spotted - in English or Danish - makes that easy to do."

Aarhus Stiftstidende launched Spotted at the onset of the Aarhus Festival, the largest annual multicultural festival in Scandinavia, taking advantage of the opportunity to create attention for spotted.stiften.dk. Since the launch, stiften.dk has experienced a marked increase in traffic, and Spotted had 90,000 page views the first week, according to Carsten Krogh, webmaster of Aarhus Stiftstidende and of Spotted.stiften.dk.

"We have chosen Spotted because of its great potential to generate more traffic, to create more interactivity and to establish a community on our Web sites," said Hege Wullum, the project developer in Edda Media, Norway, who has been working with Aarhus Stiftstidende on the project. "We have known for a long time that our readers and Internet users are fond of picture galleries, but Spotted could help us to take this to the next level. We have tested a lot of services and we found that Spotted had proven its worth on several U.S. media Web sites. The solution is almost a plug-and-play solution, which has been of great importance to us because we did not want to develop our own platform."

"It is so exciting to be a part of the Stiften site and, thanks to Spotted, to be able to experience what is happening with our Danish friends," said Romaner. "Our Spotted tool has been helping users share their experiences with others in all parts of America and beyond. Now the fun of Spotted can be understood in multiple languages within one site. Having a multilingual Spotted opens up a whole new world of possibilities."

Aarhus Stiftstidende is a local Danish media company in the British Media Corp., Mecom. The company has a daily newspaper (circulation 30,000), a weekly free sheet, a cultural Web service: aoa.dk "all about Aarhus," with restaurants, theaters, concerts, etc., e-mail newsletters and breaking news services on SMS (mobile text). Aarhus is the second-largest city in Denmark with a population of 300,000.
